A History Timeline of TJ Rampit USA
1986. Ted Short Sr. (CEO) was working for another company when he started pioneering the idea of aluminum modular ramp models.
1989. Ted Sr. moved onto another company and decided there needed to be a modular wood wheelchair ramp system.
1992. Ted Sr. ventured off on his own with his son, Ted Jr., and started their own wheelchair ramps business to assist the disabled. Their disabled ramps company was then named "Rampit." Rampit had just a 3,200 sq. ft. manufacturing facility. At this time there were only 4 employees, including Ted Jr. and Ted Sr. During this year, Ted Sr. wanted to be involved in working with the VAs in providing our veterans with wheelchair ramps. As a veteran himself, he wanted to make sure fellow veterans had a great product for accessibility to their homes.
1993. The first rental modular ramp was purchased for a young boy in Coldwater, MI who was hit by a mail truck. This started the beginning of our rental ramp program.
1996. Business was growing tremendously and Rampit had to expand from a 3,200 sq. ft. manufacturing facility, to a 10,000 sq. ft. facility.
1999. Rampit added an additional 4,800 sq. ft. for warehousing.
2005. The reins of the company were handed from father to son and the name was changed from "Rampit" to "TJ Rampit."
2009. TJ Rampit expanded its business to Gainesville, Florida where we opened a warehouse facility to better service those in the southern states. TJ Rampit also purchased another 10,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility in order to keep its promise of timely service.
2012. This family-owned company has always had the vision of growing at a steady pace in order to remain at the top of customer satisfaction. This year will be no exception as we will continue to focus on our service to our veterans, dealers, and private clients and ensure their satisfaction. We will continue to ship our wheelchair ramps within 1-2 business days so our clients can have access to their homes as soon as possible.
Our goal is not to be the biggest...but to be the best.
