  • Get the total height of the steps or porch for your required system.






  • ADA codes require a flat surface at the top of a ramp. If you have a porch that is
         approximately 60" x 60" this will work (unless there is a rise from the porch to the top
  of the doorsill). If you just have steps, you should place a platform over them.

  • For every 30 feet of ramp run, you need a resting platform.

  • Changing in direction right or left 90 degrees, you need a 60" x 60" platform. If turning
          back, you need a 60" x 96" platform.

  • Handrails are required for all ramps over 6" high. Vertical pickets are also required in
          some installations.
                                      To meet codes, you need 1 foot of run for every 1
  inch of height. However, there can be exceptions if
there are space restrictions.
